Situated in the middle of the piste, this is a true ski in / ski out chlaet with all the ski action on your doorstep, but when the crowds go home at the end of the day, you’ve the mountain to yourself! There’s parking nearby, and in the winter your luggage will be ferried across the piste to the chalet You’re just 500m from the Lake Annecy ski resort of Merdassier, where you’ll find restaurants, a supermarket, sports shops, a boulangerie and an autobank. With such a privileged location, the panoramic views over Alpine meadows are breathtaking, with the Etale mountain providing a dramatic backdrop.
Warm welcome waiting at apartment after an energetic day on the slopes
This spacious apartment is one of three in Chalet le Capieu, a converted traditional Alpage, or farm. It’s the perfect place for two families to holiday together, sleeping up to 12 in four double bedrooms and four bathrooms. The Nordic-style decor is both comfortable and practical, and the open plan living area, with a dining table and a well-equipped kitchen, is a cosy refuge when the snow is falling. Two of the bedrooms have balconies - a great place to check out the weather and have the first cuppa of the day, and there’s a large terrace with space to eat out, or perhaps enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub as the sun sets behind the mountains.
Step out of the door and on to the slopes, or just watch from the jacuzzi!
If you’re all about the skiing, you won’t get closer to the piste than this! Chalet le Capieu is right on the slopes in Merdassier, Manigod - part of the Lake Annecy ski resorts. From here you can ski to the other resorts, such as La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, or take the regular ski bus. Your Aravis ski pass gives you access to 220km of slopes and 95 lifts, so there is always a new challenge. Merdassier itself is a very family friendly resort, perfect for beginners and those ready to move on to more challenging slopes. There are also plenty of trails for cross-country skiers and snow-shoe walkers. Non-skiers may be happy watching the action from the jacuzzi, but if not, there’s a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool nearby in La Clusaz, as well as an ice skating rink and cinema, sledging, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Your own private paradise amongst Alpine meadows and towering mountains
As soon as you open your eyes in the morning, you’ll appreciate the tranquil position of Chalet le Capieu. Wander out on to the balcony and admire the lush green meadows that surround you, and the mountains just waiting to be explored. Walkers and mountain bikers will find plenty of trails from the door, and adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Merdassier. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness. In the evening, sit out on the balcony and enjoy a barbecue and watch for shooting stars over one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps.
Splendid isolation just minutes from mountain and lakeside action
Despite its peaceful position in Merdassier, Chalet le Capieu is only 500 metres from the commercial centre of Merdassier, with its restaurants, shops and boulangerie. There are more shops, restaurants and weekly markets in nearby Manigod, La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Thones, where the tourist offices organise regular events for residents and visitors. Just 30 minutes away by car is the beautiful medieval town of Annecy, with museums, shops and galleries. Set beside the cleanest lake in Europe, it’s a great place for water sports, cycling or just soaking up the sun on a lakeside beach. With Geneva airport less than an hour away, Chalet le Capieu is the perfect base for exploring this stunning area.
